Up for consideration is a new Cascade Fat Head ribbon microphone Stereo Set upgraded with high-end AMI TR42 transformers. This mic is similar to the classic Cascade Fat Head design, but with a Gold Scoop --which is a head basket of greater depth on the rear-facing side of the mic. This mic sounds great on acoustic instruments, especially guitar -- or any instrument where smooth, low-mid detail is critical. The boutique, high-end AMI TR42 transformer is a big upgrade to the stock transformer, with enhanced frequency response in both the highs and the low-end, and upgrades the performance to compete with professional studio mics costing 3-4 times as much. RIBBON MICS
Ribbon mics are smooth-sounding mics that excell when the predominant frequency detail is in the low-mid region: acoustic guitar, cello, bass, voice, etc. The Figure 8 response pattern is perfect for capturing the natural detail of the source, as well as the depth and space of the room, which makes it well suited for remote/location work. These Fat Head mics have become a permanent fixture for recording guitar cabs both in pro studios and on the stage.

STEREO SET
This set features a stereo bar set up for Blumlein stereo recording (X/Y in figure 8), but the bar can also be used for various A/B stereo configurations, as well as for 2 independent mics.
