Up for consideration is a pair of vintage Flickinger Audio TwinFlicks mic preamp channels, Originally from the 1972 for the Ray Stevens Sound Lab 32-Channel console. These 2x vintage Flickinger 736-2 channels were recently racked by David McDonald of Avenson Audio. These are racked to the original specs of +/- 24V rails, and have about 50 dB of gain at .02% THD!!! Also, these have the original Triad 5442 150-Ohm input transformers, and the coveted Flickinger 535-7 opamps, which gives them a fabulous low-end, and lots of head room. The original output transformers were removed several decades ago to get a brighter sound, but these channels are both transformer-balanced, using custom AMI output transformers.

CLASSIC VINTAGE SOUND
Flickingers's have a great vintage character and tone that imparts a creaminess and heft to your tracks. The low end is full and big, and the 24V design gives you lots of head room. Originally built in 1972 for Ray Stevens' Sound Lab, these still sound great today, and are quite rare in that 1) there are very few of these channels around, and 2) very few preamps are built to the vintage 150-Ohm / 24V spec, which is where a lot of the magic comes from.
