Here is a great-sounding Sonex 180 Custom, with upgraded vintage DiMarzio 3-wire PAFs, and wired for Phase Reverse on the mini toggle switch. The Phase Reverse works almost unnoticed in the front and back positions, but in the middle position is when you really hear the phase-cancelling funkyness, so in all you get 4 distinct sounds with this setup. This is a player's guitar in terms of condition, but in terms of sonics and playability it is killer. It has some finish chips on the neck, but it is overall pretty clean, and it plays and sounds great, and the vintage DiMarzio PAFs sound fantastic in this guitar, and the phase-reverse in the middle position gives your a 4th strat/funk type sound to go with the beefy PAF / HB sounds.

The Sonex resin wood design was found at the time to be a sustain machine, and they even had it lab tested to scientifically measure the increased sustain, and to show that is verifiable by repeated scientific measurement. I'm can confirm that you can also really hear with your own ears the increased sustain, and this guitar really does sustain and sing -- and does not suffer from the lack of sustain on certain notes, that even some of the best Gibsons occasionally suffer from. All in all, a great-sounding guitar with some vintage Gibson vibe, and some 1980s Norlin funkyness, but for rock, this guitar kills, and even the strat-like phase canceling is very unusual on a Gibson, so this is an added sonic bonus. This guitar does not come with a case, but will be expertly packed.
