Up for consideration is a vintage Neumann KM254 cardioid condenser microphone in very good condition, with original nickel capsule and original AC701k tube, with a new AMI PSU and Gotham cable set up and calibrated by Oliver Archut of AMI / TAB-Funkenwerk. These KM54/254 mics are some of the very best mics ever made, and are highly coveted for acoustic instruments and overheads. You still will find these mics in widespread use in elite studios around the world, like Abbey Road -- where they have 10 of them!!! KM54 mics can be hard to find-- especially all-original, and in excellent working & cosmetic condition, like this one. Vintage shops sell these mics for $3,750 and up, and here is a great opportunity to pick one up with a world-class AMI PSU and save about $1,500!!!

CONDITION

The capsule and tube are both original, and the PSU was calibrated for this mic by Oliver Archut of AMI TAB-Funkenwerk. This mic has no issues, and sounds perfect.

Here are some quick, 1-take MP3 sound files to give you an idea of what to expect. A Ramirez 10-string Classical Harp guitar was recorded using the KM254 to a Presonus ADL 600 mic preamp through a Rosetta 200 A/D converter into Logic. The sound is straight signal from the mic pre with no EQ.
