Neumann KM83 VINTAGE MICROPHONE
Up for consideration is a vintage Neumann KM83 cardioid
condenser microphones. These mics are highly coveted for acoustic
instruments, especially guitar, and overheads. You will find
these mics in widespread use in all the great recording studios,
like Abbey
Road. New, the current model Neumann KM-130 sells for
$1350 and even the fixed capsule KM-183 sells for $900, so here
is your chance to pick up a much better-sounding, collectable,
vintage KM-83, and not even have to pay a premium!!!

CONDITION
These mics is in excellent condition for 30+ or so years
of service, with just minor scratches from normal use, and with
no drops, dings or dents. Click here for 1270
DPI Hi-Res Photos. The threads on the capsule work perfectly,
and the pad also works fine. This mic sounds wonderful, with
low self-noise, and I used it briefly for tracking Classical
Harp Guitar, and it sounds warm, detailed and very musical.
The Km-83 has the added advantage of reduced proximity effect
for close-micing acoustic instruments. This also makes a great
center channel for M/S recording, as you can get in closer than
you can with the cardioid. I really don't want to sell this mic,
but must do so to pay for some other guitar gear.
