This guitar was made by Ramirez in 1975 as a 6-string 1a, and it has recently been converted to a 10-string guitar. New, a Rameriz 10-string sells for over $14,000, so here is a rare opportunity to get one in top playing condition, and save about $10,000 in the process!!!

SOUND
The guitar has the famous Ramirez sound, with great clarity, volume, excellent sustain and resonance, intonation, and nice, adjustable action!! Here are 16 quick, 1-take MP3 sound files to give you an idea of what to expect. The guitar was recorded using 3 different mics (a Neumann KM183, a Blue Woodpecker ribbon mic, and a Blue Dragonfly pair) using to a Presonus ADL 600 mic preamp through a Rosetta 200 A/D converter to Logic. The sound is straight signal from the mic pre with no EQ or added effects.

CONDITION
This guitar basically is in excellent playing and cosmetic condition, with a new 10-string neck, fingerboard, frets, bridge, and a new lacquer finish. There are several repaired cracks on the back, and 2 repaired cracks on the top. The guitar has been 100% stable in the year since its conversion to a 10-string, and there is an additional 1-year warranty to the new owner.

WARRANTY
The guitar is warranteed for 1 year for any structural problems that might occur (buyer pays shipping). The bracing is exactly the same on the Rameriz 1a 10-strings and 6-strings, so the 1a design is perfect for the 10-string conversion. The luthier doing the conversions has built about 1,000 classical guitars in his carear.

STRINGS
I have the guitar tuned in Romantic tuning, a standard 10-string tuning where 1-6 is normal, and 7-10 descend step-wise: 7=D, 8=C, 9=B, 10 =A. Strings By Mail has a great selection of 10-string sets and can put together custom sets for you at a discount over individual strings. Several excellent string manufacturers offer 10-string sets, in cluding D'Addario, Hannabach, and Savarez. LaBella also makes a set but I do not recommend it.
