Schoeps CM61
Up for consideration is a vintage Schoeps CM61
condenser tube microphone with a cardioid capsule. This mic was
designed for Telefunken ELA in 1954. Here is the Schoeps webpage
for this mic. This cardioid capsule has a new nickel diaphragm
from capsule specialist Siegfried Thiersch of Thiersch
Elektroakustic, and a new PSU from Oliver Archut of TAB Funkenwerk,
and a new Gotham cable. The CM61 is one the most sought-after
of all the Schoeps classic tube mic designs, and is highly coveted
both for vocals and acoustic instruments. Here is a rare opportunity
to own this nicely restored and very desirable & collectable
vintage microphone!

CONDITION
This mic body is in very good condition, with just minor
scratches and wear from 50 years of normal use. The mic amp was
checked out at Schoeps last year and everything tested fine.
The capsule housing has some oxidation, and some pitting on the
back. The capsule was reskinned by Thiersch in December 2008,
and the PSU was made for it in February 2009. The mic body connector
threads are not 100% perfect, yet the cable attaches properly
and securely, but it does not start to thread very easily, but
if you line it up exactly right it threads correctly. This mic
has about 10 hours of total use on it since the Thiersch reskin.
