Up for consideration is a vintage Schoeps CMT 56 which is working only in the Figure 8 pattern. This pattern is useful as an M/S mic, or as a spot mic for acoustic instruments. The the mic was recently refurbished by Schoeps, but they were unable to restore it to full 3-pattern functionality, as it is working only as a Figure-8 mic in all settings -- so here is a great opportunity to own a recently refurbished CMT56 at a big discount!!!
HI -RES PHOTOS:
HERE for 1270 DPI Hi-Res photos of this CMT 56 mic, and HERE is some additional product info on the original CMT Series from the Schoeps website, and here are some MK6 end-user reviews [ 1 | 2 ].
CLASSIC SCHOEPS SOUND
The MK6 caspule has a Figure 8 pattern which is very similar to the MK8 ( chart); A new CMC68 mic amp with a figure=8 capsule will run you $2,132, so this mic saves you about $1,400!!!
The CMT design amplifier is the older design, running on P48 phantom power, with a relatively low power consumption. The CMT 5 series is also the only mic amp from the CMC / CMT series that is transformer-coupled!!
