Up for consideration is a vintage Schoeps M221 tube mic, upgraded by Oliver Archut to run on a EC1000 tube using a Neumann KM54-style circuit, with a custom AMI boutique transformer. This is a Cathedral Guitar exclusive -- as there were only 1 of these ever made. This custom mic comes with a set of 4x original Schoeps capsules, all refurbished and brought up to spec by Schoeps within the last 2-3 years. While the mic is originally an original vintage Schoeps M221, with original Schoeps capsules, it actually sounds much more like the Neumann KM54 series, due to the amplifier circuit having been modified to the KM54-style circuit, with the addition of the custom AMI transformer. So this is a very rare opportunity to get this 1-of-a-kind M221/KM54 mic, with a full compliment of 4 refurbished Schoeps capsules!!!

M221 MICS
The mic body is the original M221 body, which has the capsule thread pattern of the M221F, CMT30F and CMMT30F. This does not use the M221b thread pattern. The capsule set for the mic originally had nickel capsules, and the MK241 still has the original nickel membrane material, and the others are the newer mylar material. The MK241 is to be used with the supplied Phase Ring for the proper Hypercard pattern, and the switchable M934b uses the supplied Phase Ring in cardioid pattern only (not for Omni).

Oliver Archut (1969-2014) and the company he founded, AMI, TAB-Funkenwerk, is world-renowned in microphone and pro audio design. In addition to designing the Lucas CS-1 and CS-4
mics, Oliver designed several other award-winning
mics for quite a few well-known mic companies, and some of which
are listed here.
Also, AMI
TAB-Funkenwerk builds microphone and micpre transformers,
Telefunken V-series mic pres, DIs, tube mic PSUs, and tube guitar
amps. Because of his enclyclopedic knowledge of classic German
vacuum tube audio design, Oliver was highly sought after as a
designer or design consultant for a wide range of professional
audio products.
