Schoeps CM61
Up for consideration is a vintage Schoeps CM61
condenser tube microphone with a cardioid capsule. This mic was
designed for Telefunken ELA in 1954. Here is the Schoeps webpage
for this mic series. This cardioid capsule has a new nickel diaphragm
from capsule specialist Siegfried Thiersch of Thiersch
Elektroakustic, and a new PSU and cable from Oliver Archut
of TAB Funkenwerk.
The CM61 is perhaps the most sought-after of all the Schoeps
classic mic designs, and is highly coveted for acoustic instruments.
Here is a rare opportunity to own this wonderful and very rare
cardioid version of this highly desirable & collectable microphone!

* Serial # body: 1228

SOUND:
I did use it recently to record a Classical Harp Guitar.
The signal chain was CM61 and a Blue Woodpecker through a Presonus
ADL 600 mic pre and a Rosetta 200 AD. Click
here for that page. I will post some additional sound files
later
CONDITION
This mic body is in very good condition, with just minor
scratches and wear from 50 years of normal use. The capsule housing
has some oxidation, and some pitting on the back. The capsule
was reskinned by Thiersch in December 2008, and the PSU was made
for it in February 2009. I REALLY HATE to sell this microphone,
but must do so to help pay for another drool-worthy custom mic
project.
