Up for consideration is a replacement transformer
and tube set for the vintage Neumann Gefell CMV-563 tube
mic. This set can be used for a DIY Oliver Archut circuit
mod, which includes replacing the old, low-grade caps and resistors,
and installing a new Oliver Archut / AMI
TAB-Funkenwerk UM-75 transformer, improving upon the
stock Gefell circuit based on Oliver's schematic,
and using a selected low-noise NOS Telefunken EC92
tube. Additionally, a W. Germany Mullard-Branded EC92 tube is
included with U47-style midrange emphasis. Here is your chance
to get this great CMV563 upgrade, simply by replacing these main
components!!!
REVIEW OF OLIVER'S MOD:
"The top end retained the soft,
smooth nature, but improved the sense of space. Upper mids remained
even and clear, but the mids/lower mids (800-200hz) got fuller
but also really cleared up a lot !...this was the biggest change
i heard. The low end stayed rich and warm, but tightened up a
bit. Overall it made things fuller and more natural. I was very
concerned about messing with the sound i already like with the
563's, this was more improvement than change. I am going to mod
both my CMV563s"

FEATURES:
This set can be used to upgrade your CMV563 according
to the Oliver Archut circuit mod and features his AMI /
TAB-Funkenwerk CMV563 transformer -- which Gefell uses
in their anniversary edition UM-75 microphone. The transformer
alone makes a huge improvement in the sound. Also included is
a NOS Telefunken EC92, tested for low-noise and tonality appropriate
for microphone use. The Telefunken tube is very hi-fi sounding
and even across the entire frequency spectrum. Additionally,
you will get a Mullard-branded, Made in W. Germany NOS EC92 tube
that has more of a midrange emphasis, giving you more of a U47
sound simply by switching the tube.
