* SOLD * Vintage 1965 Epiphone Olympic Special, Modded w/Gibson 57 Classics * SOLD * Up for consideration is very nice player's-grade, Gibson-made Epiphone Olympic Special -- a rare Melody Maker variant with asymmetrical horns -- and with our '57 Classics HB pickup mod, making this a fantastic-playing and great-sounding guitar. The guitar features a beautiful Honduran Mahogany body, and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, all of which are by now long gone and impossible to find. Also, the guitar has a set of great-sounding Gibson '57 Classics, and it plays and sounds fantastic. Vintage mid-60s stock Gibson guitars are now well over $2k, so here is a great opportunity to pick a cool vintage early '65 Epi Olympic Special and still play an amazing, vibey vintage '60s Gibson-made solid body electric guitar at a greatly reduced price!! This guitar came to me after a previous HB mod and some finish overspray -- so it was the perfect candidate for us to re-mod, and move the output jack with the Tele side jack mod. The truss rod cover, nut, and strap knobs/screws are original, the knobs are vintage, and the tuners, electronics and bridge are modern replacements. A new custom pickguard was made to house the '57 Classics, and the output jack was moved to the side. Action and frets are good, and the guitar has a 1 11/16ths nut and the classic mid '60s Gibson thin-wide neck profile, which is very comfortable to play. The guitar itself plays great with no issues, and sounds amazing. Does not come with a case. |
