Up for consideration is a vintage Gibson-made, top-of-the-line Recording King 1124 (M5) 16" pre-war archtop. Basically, this is a Gibson L4 with a deeper 4" body for extra bass, a fancy set of inlays, checkerboard binding like on the Gibson L10, and an upgraded back & sides sunburst finish, and a non-adjustable, fixed truss rod. Recently it has been refretted by West Texas luthier Michael Turko, so it now plays just like new. It gives you the lovely Gibson warmth of a pre-war Gibson L4, with the high-grade, hand-carved spruce top, in a 16" pre-war archtop. It is a rare model that Gibson made for Montgomery Wards only from 1937-1939.
