Up for consideration is very nice 2013 Rio Grande DIRTY HARRY Strat PUP set, which is a slightly overwound, higher output version w/adjustable pole pieces meant to sound more in the P90 direction. This model has a fatter sound, but still with crispy attack. In truth, it is about 1/2 way between a traditional Strat pickup and a P90. These sell for $294 new from Rio Grande, so here is a great chance to pick up a slightly used set of 3 w/black covers, and save about $120. Adjustable pole pieces are a big plus, allowing you to tailor the string-to-string balance, and the thicker tone helps add some girth to the still very recognizable classic Strat sound.
