SOLD Vintage 1980 VANTAGE Spirit VLP-510
Les Paul Copy
Made in Japan / MATSUMOKU
Upgraded Seymor Duncan PUPS
Active Distortion / Boost
Weight: 9 Lbs., 8 Oz.
Here is a super cool, tricked out Vantage Spirit VLP-510 Les Paul copy. First of all, these are just great guitars. They are relatively high-end MIJ Les Paul copies from Matsumoku, from their Golden Age of the early 1980s. Even the stock guitar is very good. However, this one has been upgraded and is now a serious Tone Beast. First of all the PUPs are vintage Seymour Duncan 59 Neck and JB Bridge. The Japanese tuners are now Schallers, and appear to align properly to the original screw holes. Strap locks are also upgraded. Lastly, the original had split-coils on the mini toggle switch, but this circuit has been rewired to feature an active distortion / boost circuit in the UP position. This feature is much more desirable than the split coil sound, as it gives you an instant lead sound without having to push a pedal. So here is a rare chance to buy a high-end Matusmoku Les Paul with some very nice upgrades that you would more than likely have to shell out $300 in parts alone, if you uggraded this yourself.
The guitar is in good overall condition, with nicks, chips, dings & scratches normally seen in a 35-year-old guitar. The tonewoods are really beautiful, and the Matsumoku workmanship is world-class. The guitar plays great, sounds great, has a very cool vibe, and is beautiful to look at in the stunning Wine Red finish.
