PIETRO LIPPI CONDITION

The mandolin is in good overall condition, and would need some repair/shoring up, to bring it back to a stable, playing condition. There are some signs of an earlier repair in the lower middle, and some varnish damage. The inside of the bowl is covered with parchment, the neck is straight, the headstock is laminated with rosewood and inlaid with black wood and bone. There is a crack in the middle of the top from the pickguard/scratch plate to the rim.

MUSEUM/COLLECTION QUALITY
This 1765 Lippi mandolin is a great piece either to start/add to an instrument collection or to restore as a historical instrument back to playing condition. Also, now is a very opportune time to be buying historical mandolins, as the prices have dropped down over the last several years, and are now back down to levels not seen since a few decades ago!!!
