1937 Gibson L7 Acoustic Archtop Guitar

Fantastic Pre-War Archtop, Sunburst Finish!!!

1937 Gibson L7 Acoustic Archtop

Up for consideration is a vintage 1937 Gibson L7 acoustic Archtop guitar -- including the original hardshell case, in Sunburst finish. This guitar is in good cosmetic condition, and plays fantasticly, with an amazingly fast neck that will remind you of a 1960s Gibson and nothing at all like the V shape of some 1930s archtops. This 17" archtop has the rare picture-frame inlays, and parallel bracing, and has a warmth and clarity that you can only get in a Pre-War archtop. New, the L7 sells for about $6k, so here is a rare opportunity to get a much better, pre-war Gibson professional archtop from Gibson's Golden Age -- and still save over $3,000!!!

L7 ARCHTOP SERIES
The L7 is the lowest cost guitar from Gibson's Professional archtop series, which included the L5, L10, L10 and L7. It is basically an L5 archtop, but with simpler cosmetic appointments and details. By looking at the beautiful maple flame on the back set of this guitar, you can tell they still used some very high grade tonewood for these L7 guitars back in 1937 when the supply was abundant, and before WWII sent off some of the best craftsmen.

L7 SERIES SPECS:

* Carved Maple Back
* Mahogany neck
* Rounded Neck Profile
* Sunburst Finish
* 24 2/4" Scale

CONDITION
This guitar is in good condition overall with several dings and scratches from 75 years of regular use (please see hi Hi-Res photos). It plays perfectly, has no structural issues, and sounds great. It has a repair to the lower bout, and the body binding has shrunk in several places, but everything is stable, and it plays and sounds fantastic. The finish has some buckle rash on the back, and the case has some separation issues at the headstock, but all the latches work fine. Playability is phenomenal, and the bridge is such that you can lower the action if needed.
