LUCIO NUNEZ, LUTHIER
Replica of 2005
In the 10-string guitar world, the Bernabe name has stood out above the others for decades. Unfortunately, these great guitars have long been out of reach for most people, as they are now priced in the range of $20,000. We now are proud to introduce the new Cathedral Guitars Model 40, which is a faithful copy of a 2005 Bernabe Imperial 10-string, complete with double layer Madagascar/Indian Rosewood sides, church-door Madagascar Rosewood back, Bernabe's unique diamond bracing pattern, PLUS, a custom-made, solid cedar O-Port tornavoz for added harmonic overtone content and extended bass projection. This guitar is the newest model to the Cathedral Guitar line up, but unlike the other guitars which are made in China, this guitar is hand-made and signed by San Antonio luthier Lucio Nunez. Here is a great opportunity to get an amazing hand-made concert 10-string guitar, meticulous copied from a 2005 Bernabe Imperial, and save about $16,000!!!
for 1270 Hi-resolution photos of this guitar, and HERE for photos of the 2005 Bernabe 10-String that we used to make this copy. This guitar comes
with a full 1-year warranty, with a satisfaction
guaranteed, 3-day return policy. Lucio has made numerous 10-string guitars, including eight Ramirez and Sakurai / Kohno 10-String guitar conversions [ 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 ]. This is a world-class 10-string
guitar, and one of the few true concert quailty 10-string guitars that you can get today without having
to pay $10,000 to $20,000, and go on a lengthy waiting
The sound, both acoustically and recorded, is simply wonderful. The sustain is amazing, the sympathetic resonance on this guitar is simply incredible, as is typical for a Bernabe (see sound clip, below). I have played and owned dozens of multi-string classical guitars,
and this instrument equals or surpasses most luthier-built guitars I have heard in the 5k and above range. This guitar has a beautiful cedar top, an incredible set of Madagascar Rosewood back & sides,
a inner set of Indian Rosewood sides for added stiffness for increased projection and then the custom cedar O-Port, which boosts the low bass and the harmonic resonance. The guitar has beautifully, sustaining trebles, deep resonant basses, and unsurpassed sympathetic resonance and
sustain. The low bass response is outstanding on this guitar, thanks to the O-Port, and it also has great separation of voices, clarity and evenness through all the registers, and a balance that you can only find on the finest of 10-string guitars. This guitar is a wonderful instrument, and I offer a 3-day return guarantee that you will be absolutely thrilled to own and play it, or simply return it.
LUCIO NUNEZ CONVERSIONS:
“I've played the Lucio Nunez Sakurai / Kohno 10-String Conversion for probably six hours since it came yesterday and she is indeed EXCELLENT. I have played guitars that cost three times as much that did not play as well or sound as good. The sustain and resonance on this instrument are amazing. I truly could not be happier with the instrument. The Sakurai / Kohno can do what I imagined a 10 string could do. It is simply superb. It is easily one of the finest instruments I have ever played. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the instrument. I will be playing it next week in public for its maiden voyage.”

“I just want to tell you how happy I am with the Lucio Nunez Kohno 15 10-String conversion. The pictures and recordings did not do it justice. It is simply amazing. I own two wonderful custom double tops that I have not played for three weeks. I can not put this guitar down. The workmanship is next to perfect. All notes are almost piano-like, yet warm and sweet. It has been a pleasure doing business with you.”
“No question, I love this guitar! The Lucio Nunez Ramirez 1a 10-string conversion is one
of the finest-playing guitars I own. The tone is pure Ramirez -- she sings;
the sustain is Viagra. I could not be more pleased with this guitar.
I am so glad I purchased this

“The Lucio Nunez Kohno Model 10 conversion is certainly impressive. The new 10 string adaptation certainly respects the the workmanship and style of the late Mr. Kohno. From the signature head pattern to the Kohno style double ebony stripes and finish, it is hardly distinguishable from the original except for the extra strings -- my other performance guitar is from the same maker, same year, and same model, so I know!
The sound, however, is the most impressive quality. It is especially well-suited to lute tunings and corresponding lute music for which I procured it.”

I have the guitar in D'Addario strings, tuned in Romantic tuning, a standard
10-string tuning where 1-6 is normal, and 7-10 descend step-wise:
7=D, 8=C, 9=B, 10 =A. Strings
By Mail has a great selection of 10-string sets and can
put together custom sets for you at a discount over individual
strings. Several excellent string manufacturers offer 10-string
sets, including D'Addario, which come on this guitar,
LaBella makes a set but I do not recommend it, as the low basses are weak and unresponsive. Aranjuez also makes a set, but I have not tried them.

Here are 14 quick, 1-take MP3 sound files of me playing
this guitar, to give you an idea of what to expect. The
guitar has amazing sympathetic resonance and sustain, as well as good power
and projection, beautiful bass responce, and a very even response across
the registers. These MP3 files have no compression, EQ or reverb
-- just straight signal, tracked through a Neumann KM84/83 condenser mic, into an Audient Black mic preamp, into a Sony PCM D1 flash recorder.

CLASSICAL HARP GUITAR
This guitar type is also a relative of the Harp Guitar family
known as the Fretted
Harp Guitar. It has a big advantage over the other harp
guitar types in that the frets extend across the entire neck,
and the guitar can easily be played with a capo, and be quickly
transposed into a variety of keys, which is especially helpful
when accompanying singers. This is, of course, impossible on
a regular harp guitar. Custom capos are made by Shubb
(ask for the Pinnochio model), and also by Phill
